We are now living in a world
where we are not contented with what they have. Sometimes, we tend to look for
some things that will make us happy. What is happiness really nowadays?
Can we measure happiness by
the number of our friends in facebook, Hi-tech gadgets or even money?
Definitely no!. Happiness cannot be measured by the material things we have.
“It’s not about money…” That is according to a song. Money can’t buy happiness.
While we are having great
meals, some children in the streets are starving. Many become insane because of
hunger…but what is the connection of this to gladness? We know the answers deep
within our hearts that there are instances when we tend to forget the real
essence of our existence.
How do we expect our
government officials to live a happy life in their homes while some people
suffer from abuse, crime and poverty? How could we take the fact that
sometimes, we are not contented of what we have---things which others are dying
to have? Why do we keep on searching for the things that could make us glad if
we have God? Why do we keep on wasting a lot of money buying expensive things
if we could share? Why do we keep on pretending to be someone we’re not? How
about you, are you pleased about your superficial life?
God gave us knowledge to
make our lives better. He gave us the talents and skills to use, to improve the
kind of person that we are. We are given family and friends whom we could run to
in difficult times. If we ignore the
superficialities in life, we could see how blessed we are. Sometimes, we forget
to appreciate the simple things because of the shallowness of the way we live.
We have to be gratified with
what we are and what we have. It is okay to dream but you will have to wake up
and make those dreams come into life. Our existence is not about the kind of
persons we want to project before others but the kind of person we are in the
eyes of God. He has given us so much to make our existence beautiful as well as
to make ourselves His best creation ever.
We don’t need to be perfect
to attain contentment; we just need to be morally upright and be responsible
and accountable for our actions and decisions. We know exactly the difference
between needs and wants. We know exactly what we need and we don’t need all the
things we want.
We are so much blessed. We should be happy
because we are given life: the life that we should value; the life that we
should protect; and the life that we should live in accordance to the Divine
will. The moment we give dignity to our existence, then, we will be happy with
who and what we are, rather than what we have or what we can do.
You cannot buy happiness in
a department store. Happiness comes to those who share, make and give the most
of their existence in this world. Let us always remember, “Happiness becomes beautifully
genuine when shared.” Never forget to seize the day and live according to God’s
plans for you!
